It's the last day of summer school! I'm a few hours away from my summer break beginning. Then I'm back the first week of August. Who said we get three months off a year? pfff

I will be lounging around for at least 2 months. Usually back early for meetings and prepping. Not that every summer is like that, but this year I’ve taken an actual break.

People who don't work in education 😂. Most of my colleagues are either doing summer school, pursuing a side hustle, or already starting to prep for the year ahead. Anyone who actually thinks teachers lounge around for 3 months every year is delusional, misinformed, or both.

My district gets three months off. All of June and July, half August, a week in December, a week in January, a week in the spring. 3 months. If there are 365 days in a year, we have a 185 day contract, and we use 2.5 sick days, we technically only work half a year.

Getting summers off is probably the biggest misconception people have when it comes to being a teacher. I didn’t have to teach summer school this year, but I have plenty of other things that have fulfilled my time. I hope you get to enjoy the next few weeks before you have to go back to school again.

Hi all - just joining and looking for some guidance! I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?

Hello everyone I live in Chicago. I have been teaching Preschool for over 15 years. I have a Bachelor’s in ECE, credential 5 with gateway. Now I work as a kindergarten Specialist. I wanted to relocate to some place warm, that has no problem with paying their staff. I am well rounded and have a lot of knowledge and experience. Any tips or suggestions.
