Hello,
I had my interview with Infosys for .net full stack developer.
It went well and i am hoping for a positive response.
Want to know how much should I expect Or at what pkg should I negotiate with them.

I honestly think I work less hours now that I’m more senior. Obviously depends on the agency culture among other factors, but having the experience to get to ideas quicker and knowing where to better focus my energy results in more reasonable hours. (Pitch periods are obvs an exception). Having said that, I probably open my laptop in the evenings more so now with WFH normalised.

Um that’s been the expectation my whole career
Haha, no. Don’t put yourself in that mindset. If you put in your time previously and are more senior now, you should be able to work smarter, hold boundaries. Obviously not everyone’s situation is the same.
Pretty much
Maybe not quite at a senior CW level, but generally, the higher you go, the more meetings you get dragged into, which is a huge reason for long hours. If you can avoid some of those, that helps.
And often there isn’t someone who can attend said meetings in your place… so you’re needed before and after hours… sometimes on PTO.
Is there an unspoken expectation to regularly work over 40 hrs a week when you still make 5 figures?
Judging by the comments, hours are a true YMMV question in this industry. (Esp compared to e.g. big law or finance, where the not so implicit contract is to slave away for a reliably huge salary/bonus.) Personally, I work fewer hours now than I did as a jr, because I know what I’m doing and I know the difference between an opportunity and biz as usual. But also because I’ve moderated expectations for my own career and increasingly prioritize other things.
“Your mileage may vary”
I don’t remember a single time in my career when I worked 40hr/week. The number has gone up significantly now but that’s at least partially bc my account is cancerous and leadership is playing dumb until everybody drops dead. Probably work closer to 60hr/week most of the time.
Nope. I probably worked more hours as a junior than as a senior and above.
It depends what you do, I'm a writer so I'm kind of always doing less "physical work" than the ADs... But also lots of time staring at a blank page...
Never expect to work a certain amount, though, I wouldn't think about it that way.
It’s counting the hours that stops people from becoming senior. Sometimes it might be less sometimes significantly more it’s about knowing when
Usually it’s before
Unless you work here 😫
From what I hear it’s case by case depending on the agency. But overall I don’t think it’s unspoken. You do whatever you need to do to get the work done and make it good. Nobody has ever told me “you’re working 40 hours a week”. Or any number for that matter. We’re on salary.
I don’t even make half that much and it’s an expectation
I’ve never worked less than 50
Cool
I wouldn’t call it unspoken, never met anyone in this industry’s leadership that’s afraid to just say it out loud.
I think people who buy into hustle culture will pull extra hours just because regardless of seniority level

Yay, another thing I’ll never have to worry about.
When you move up to senior then CD junior wnd up doing all the work …. Either way. This system is just a toxic cycle and need to be rework.
No. The only time I’d say it is what it is if it’s leading up/during production or a pitch. But consistently? No and the reality is if there’s over 40 hour workloads consistently there’s something wrong. Either the account is poorly managed, you’re on too many things, the deliverables are unrealistic, your CD is doing something wrong, it’s a whirlwind and things are constantly changing, the clients have 12 rounds too many of feedback, the timelines are unrealistic, or there’s too many steps in the process and creates more work. There’s others too. But the point is if it’s consistently like this then there’s an issue with the account. You also should be tracking hours to show this so that there’s proof of an issue at hand.
