I’ve been a Senior Financial Analyst for 7 months. I’ve led budgeting, built a new financial model, and migrated reporting to Power BI. My review was entirely positive—told I’m doing “perfectly”—but I only received a 4% raise, no title change, and was asked to take on project manager responsibilities. I started below market with a promise to revisit comp. I’m finishing my MBA in May, and was told we’ll “revisit later.” Am I overthinking this or is it time to move on?

How much longer is ‘revisit later’? How do you feel about the company overall? I have seen people that are told to wait, and it never comes, then people that do wait and it actually works out. Doesn’t hurt to think over both possibilities. Right now there is a lot of hesitation too with the economy.

If it’s a government job, it’s a standard raise and I wouldn’t regard it as a negative outcome. I would recommend getting clarification on “revisit later”. If your manager isn’t scheduling regular meetings, you should, at least monthly. That way you can outline and document your accomplishments and have quarterly 2-way conversations of progress.

Question about what to do next. I’ve maxed out everything—401k, HSA, IRA, backdoor Roth 401k. My bills are all paid. I’ll probably make about 16,500 more this year to do stuff with (ie money that isn’t going to taxes or insurance or anything). What should I do with it? Crypto? Set it on fire? Get a hair transplant?

I have been approached with an opportunity at JP Morgan Chase for their private client advisor role. The book is about 30M all in. I am currently an experienced hybrid asset manager wholesaler and have experience in advising as well. Curious about the opportunity with JPM and if it’s worth it. I currently make about 160k and if JPM would give me a high draw for the first 3 years to build, and if it’s feasible to sustain that 160+ there.
