Have you provided a written, detailed career path to your boss? If not, I suggest doing that and providing initial thoughts about how you would achieve your goals, asking input from your boss.

Year end is a great time to start this conversation. I would ask for a road map in writing for your growth, I am not a parent/never been pregnant but I think it would be hard to walk away from all the political goodwill at your company to start over in a way. People trust you to get your work done and you’ve been there for multiple years. If you like the people you work with, all the better because honestly working somewhere you hate is miserable.
Also with baby on the way, would it be the worst to not have a ton to prove at a new company, plus the learning curve, that comes with a new role? While there is no good or easy time to make a job change, I personally would sit tight and reevaluate in a year to 18 months.
Do you know your manager well? I would be candid and tell your boss that you’ve been pursued by recruiters with exciting growth prospects and it is making you take a hard look at growth internally. Hopefully that will push the company to expedite whatever they’re thinking for you. This will only work if you know your manager is truly invested in your growth

In this job market, I personally wouldn’t talk about external opportunities. Not sure what you or OP do, but now (especially with baby on the way), is not the time to make a statement that could be perceived as threatening unless you have an offer you’d actually accept in hand.
Had 2 kids while working at Sr Manager/CMO levels. Hands down I would stay where you’re at through the birth and at least first 6 months. You will need that positive professional standing and flexibility in the coming months. It’s an exciting time but one of the most challenging. Some days you will be struggling to not to fall asleep at your desk or in meetings.
