I’ve been in this industry for 15 years and I’m still terrible at taking a real break. I scarf food in 2 minutes, check my phone every 5 seconds, and end up talking about work the whole time. I know it’s not healthy, but I can’t seem to actually turn off during my shift breaks. Does anyone here have a trick for truly disconnecting and recharging in the middle of a chaotic day?

I used to do the same until I started leaving my phone at my desk during breaks. Just 10–15 minutes of sitting outside or chatting about anything but work makes a difference.

There's no way for me to when most days I only get a 30 minute break. That's just enough time for me to get in the car, grab fast food, eat and make it back to work. There's nothing disconnecting or recharging about it.

Start trying to break the habits you have. Checking that phone every 5 seconds, set a timer, and put it out of arm's reach. And please do consider this as a health concern, that is something you cannot get back.

That’s the problem with our industry. It’s always back breaking work with no breaks. I just take a break on my days off and suck it up the rest of the time… as awful as it sounds, I sometimes enjoy those slow days…

I change my clothes. No matter what, apron off, shirt is changed. Even better when it's hoodie season 🙌🏽 I also don't talk to coworkers tbh. My theory is I'm off the clock OFF THE CLOCK. That's my tip

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?
