P1 is right but we can’t really make changes without voting. I’d also encourage you to be a part of campaigns for candidates running for office by volunteering or campaigning with the IL democrats. There’s state and local organizations you can be involved with.
If you are speaking about the recent federal law enforcement actions, then the easiest way to help is to change the federal laws that pertain. Without violations of federal laws, there would be no enforcement actions. Make it legal for migrants to come to the US.
Let's be real here, there's 100% a lot of racial profiling. I know a lot of people on green cards who won't go downtown right now. They are taking even legal migrants to try hit quotas often with the hope there's some issue or technicality they can get them on. Or just on the off chance they aren't legal.
And change federal laws? It is virtually nonfunctional, let's be honest. That's why Trump is relying so much on executive orders despite holding both Senate and Congress.
They can't even pass a budget. Imagine if they could actually implement laws everyone would like, like eliminating robo calls. But they haven't been for years. The system is broken, presidential power and the supreme court decides on most policies nowadays.
