I love bucktown / wicker. super chill. great food spots. awesome bars. you can get by on upper 60s low 70s pretty comfortably
I’ve now lived in Lakeview and old town - loved Lakeview when I was young 20s but it was an easy 45-60min commute most days so now happy to be in old town and only a 15 min commute from downtown. Lincoln park and wicker are both good areas too. I started at 60k and was completely fine living on that in a brand new lakefront 2 bed 2 bath 1200 sq ft apartment with a roommate, paying extra for garage parking, and doing literally whatever I wanted (restaurants, bars, trips, etc)
Thanks yall! I will look into each of your suggestions.
I live in Gold Coast and I love it! Lots of bars and restaurants around, it’s very close to downtown too. It’s more expensive than the other areas tho. If you make $65k+ tho, you can will be fine.
I live in Pilsen and I love the neighborhood. I had to relocate to Chicago and got a starting salary of 75k, but didn't get any $$ help with relocation.
Any suggestions for someone with kids. Don’t eat out much. Would like to be close to the lake for morning runs/evening walks.
Lincoln Park is a great option for families and if you’re on the east side you’ll be super close to the lake front.
