I am currently interviewing at TikTok for the Content Partnerships Lead role. Can anyone share some insight into the salary bands in the Sub-Saharan African market? Should I benchmark with the global rates?
Any tips and experiences interviewing in this region are also welcome - and highly appreciated! :)

quite the opposite actually, I got into marketing because i'm so cynical lol
takes a certain kind of person to make it in our field I suppose...
Yes. This industry can be harsh, unkind and aggressively competitive.
Yup, I've found this to be the case in most corporate environments though, I've heard non profit is a little more laid back in that regard
Of course, it's a highly competitive environment and a lot of people are just looking out for themselves. Not sure how much of this is cultural
Exploiting people's psyche for a living has made you cynical, can't imagine how that would happen lol
Definitely not the only one this has been my experience as well but I'm hoping to get out soon and do something a little more fulfilling
I definitely can relate! After working in marketing for so long, I've also found myself becoming a bit cynical. It's definitely not a fun feeling, but it's something that I've had to learn to deal with.
It's definitely easy to become cynical in the marketing world. After all, we're constantly bombarded with promises of the "next big thing" that never seems to quite deliver. But I think it's important to remember that there are still plenty of great things happening in marketing, and it's always worth keeping an open mind and staying excited about new opportunities.
I can relate. It's easy to become cynical and jaded. It's frustrating when you put so much work into a campaign or project and it doesn't result in the desired outcome. But it's important to stay positive and keep looking for new opportunities.
I think that would happen in any industry once you really get to know how it functions. Fashion, entertainment, sports, politics, not-for-profit, etc … you’ll realise soon enough there’s problems in every industry.
Try to focus on the good parts, and maybe go see some art or take a walk in nature to recalibrate.
