V20 NY, firm expectation is to bill 2K-2.4K a year. What happens if I bill 1800? How long until I get fired?

I can handle getting a talking to, or even getting berated. But when will real repercussions happen?

Fwiw, I’m a first year.

You're making them plenty of money at 1800. I wouldn't worry.

like

Whatever firm you’re at with a 2.4k expectation leave immediately

like

Honestly would like to switch firms. I’m just 2 months in and don’t know if I can plausibly do that without interviewing firms hearing “I couldn’t handle working for 2 months”

Every firm is different, but I’d be surprised if there are any real consequences

like

You probably won’t get bonus

like

I mean, sure, “might” — but I’m asking about actual likelihoods. I’ve never heard of someone being fired within the first 15 months for under billing a hush-hush requirement

This is a tough environment. Depends on your group size, staffing model, etc., but it's hard to hide when things are lean. That is to say, this isn't necessarily up to you, bar taking leave.

I mean, the group is lean. Everyone’s working a bunch. If I just don’t work more than 1800 a year, I don’t see what they could do about it beyond firing / bonus. If they’re unwilling to fire, then I don’t see what real recourse there is

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

I need to find something I semi-enjoy since It’s unlikely I’ll marry a rich husband or win the lottery before my savings runs out.

I went from agency to in house PR 1.5 years ago (I’m at a prof services firm in nyc). There are no boundaries for communication; everyone is expected to answer emails immediately at all hours and senior people respond in minutes between about 7am-11pm, at minimum. Is this normal in the corporate, non agency world? Not sure if this is just due to the pandemic and WFH, but I was under the impression that in house life would be more chill.
