What do you like about working in tech ?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Larsen & Toubro Infotech Can someone decline from joining the org on the joining date? I am expecting a counter offer with the same DOJ, but i wont be rejecting the current company i am joining, unless I see the offer from the countering org. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation? Will the first org that i was supposed to be joining, considering me as an employee and apply notice period constraints?HSBC Larsen & Toubro Infotech Tata Consultancy Barclays

I wouldn't consider it a red flag if everyone you know does the same work that you do, or if the recruiter is looking for applicants to fill different roles. Their job is to find good fits for open positions. They don't really care about who's in who's friend circle.
I guess it’s less of who knows each other cause they have no idea and more of if they’re casting that wide of a net so they really know what they’re doing?
If I find 1 person who I like for the role it’s about a 30% chance (on a good day) they reply in general (with or without interest) so it behoves recruiters to cast a wide net - if there are a lot of your position within the company I bet you any message you’re getting, most of your colleagues are getting too. Not uncommon.
Very true I guess a lot of people won’t even respond, that’s fair enough.
I don't think so. Who cares? They're just casting a wide net, and there's nothing wrong with that IMO. Just take the meeting and feel them out.
Yeah true!
Not necessarily a red flag. Common practice for recruiters. Do you feel like it gives you less of an edge? Unless everyone you know is also looking for a job, I’m not too worried.
I guess so? There’s nothing wrong with a wide net but it gives me less confidence in the recruiter I think.
