The job market just sucks right now and has for 2 years. It is what it is. That being said, the job market is always best at Junior. It’s like a pyramid. Most job openings are at the bottom. As you go up, they become increasingly less abundant. Right now, the model seems to be, lots of juniors, a select few key Seniors/ACDs, very few CDs an ECD or two.
For sure, there are also top heavy shops full of freelancers. They’re both ways of cutting costs. Load up on juniors and have a smaller team at the top to pick and craft from a sea of junior ideas. Or, have a really small top heavy lineup reinforced by experienced freelancers for specific projects.
Much better for juniors. Honestly. You’re much more affordable.
depends on where you live
I’m Junior and I have been unemployed Feb, 2024. There are Jr. positions and they are always flooded with hundreds or even thousands of applicants.
Yes. I find it it’s more like SC1 says. Juniors rarely solve a brief or it takes them too long to get there, and lately there’s not time for that.
i’m a junior creative and the job search is terrible
There’s not a whole lot of roles for juniors and when there are they get filled by candidates who are above entry level cause people are hungry for any job at this point
If your book is amazing and won awards, you will be ok.
The juniors I used to work with found jobs pretty fast honestly, depends though.
