I always encourage my staff to take time off, but they should have their phone on them at all times and a laptop nearby incase there is an emergency.
The problem with Gen Xers and Boomers is that they live to work - which leads to disappointment later in life. Its very wise of Millennials and Gen Zers to value their actual lives and family over work. If you have zero regrets about working constantly and not raising your family, you're straight up lying to yourself and to people online. Lmfao
I hear you! That “just take time off” advice is frustrating when the workload doesn’t stop. Unlimited PTO sounds great in theory, but when you’re expected to be available all the time, it’s a whole different story. Something’s gotta give! Have you had a chance to talk to management about this burnout?
Uhh…if management tells you to take a vacay, then just take a vacay. Tell your teams and find coverage as needed. Then unplug. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
