I’ve officially reached the stage of burnout where I find medical dramas on TV physically painful to watch. I saw a clip of Grey’s Anatomy where they shocked a flatline (asystole) and I almost threw my remote through the screen. My friends think I’m a joykill because I can't just turn it off, but the inaccuracies are an insult to my training. Is there any show that actually gets it right?

The Pit comes closest. But even in the name of drama and preachiness it is a bit much at times. I get it! After I hit 20 years I stopped watching all medical shows even the reality ones. Even MASH and it was comedy! Now at 46 yrs, I'm a little more tolerant, I actually laugh and point out the absurdity of it all, like they think we are stupid. Really stupid, or their budget was, or their advisor was, or all the above. Hang in there, maybe zombie doctors in love wil become a series.

Nope. And it irks me that they make more money than I do as a "real" RN. LOL...

Code black gets most of the meds right.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

And how would I be able to cross over to management?
