What does this mean?
You flatter yourself.
Consider working on your writing skills in your next job
Cheers! you too!
My guess is that AI will probably also write employment contracts that don’t necessarily reflect modern thinking although it would be more likely to read them properly before advising on a course of action! But it couldn’t hand deliver a notice… so we’re fine ‘til it grows hands!
Bon weekend!
I think it depends on your financial situation and the remaining partners.
If you're in need of funds and you don't care if these guys badmouth you to others, then dig in your heels and fight like hell.
If you don't need the funds but don't care about these partners, I'd also fight.
If you don't need the funds and you do care, it may be wise to just move on.
Personally, I'd be petty as hell. When interviewing/restarting search, I'd throw them under the bus if the firm hasn't already collapsed
Edit to add: do you know any employment lawyers? May not hurt to try and get a consult. They may be able to help you negotiate a nice severance.
Of course! You were smart to do everything possible to protect yourself. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I hope you're next employer treats you with the respect you deserve.
Why would they be difficult about a positive ref? Sounds like negotiating on that front is more important than dying on the two-extra-months hill. Also, if the outgoing partner is poaching clients, he/she’ll need help. It could be worth asking to go with.
But are you really going to get a positive reference out of it?
Sorry this is happening to you. Just try to find a different firm. Maybe even the partner who is leaving.
Loved this - you’re right. If the culture is sucky, and two people are off (both of whom have been quite negative about the firm to me/others) then more fool them and if they are going to be short-termist they should at least know their own employment contracts! Thank you :-)
