Lately, I’ve been feeling pretty stagnant, and I’m not sure what the best next step is for growth. If you've moved from a coordinator role into something more advanced (specialist, manager, strategist, etc.), what skills or experiences made the biggest difference for you? What would you focus on building in the next 6–12 months to open up better opportunities?

One suggestion would be to make a move from executing tasks to owning outcomes. Try to focus on data storytelling, becoming capable of explaining why the numbers moved as they did and what the business should do next. Building proficiency in marketing attribution is a good way to try to make yourself indispensable.

When I moved up, what helped most was owning a full channel or project end‑to‑end (even a small one), getting deeper into analytics, and learning to talk to stakeholders like a partner, not just an executor. In the next 6–12 months, I’d pick 1–2 skills (e.g., lifecycle, paid social, CRM, or storytelling + measurement) and double down with projects you can show on a portfolio.

I’m focusing on experimenting with and trying to build different things with AI to try and get a little step ahead. I’m finding that what companies make available isn’t actually upskilling at this point so trying to learn as much as I can on how things woe and connect to improve workflows, day to day tasks etc.

Its a political minefield.
