Has anyone else felt like they were blindly drinking the “kool aid” about their PG/firm’s culture? As a 5th year associate who has only ever worked in one firm and has no point of reference for different “cultures”, I sometimes wonder if I’ve been brainwashed.

At my law firm, only senior associates and partners go to court and take depositions. Is this normal for a big/vault law firm?

Im sure people have seen the anti-Asian violence that’s gone on in the US. I have several colleagues who are Asian American that I’ve been friendly with for many years (in some cases over a decade). I know that at least some are extremely nervous about things right now. Have people in similar situations said anything to their colleagues? Taking an informal survey how many firms (I) have the junior and midlevel summer associates plan the bulk of the summer events (lunches but also evening events) and (ii) count time spent on the summer program as qualified billable work (in that partners see how much you bill to it on your time sheet)?

Conventional wisdom on current firm counter-offering when mentioning you have a few offers? I have an offer at a large firm in Miami. Current large firm has no office there but mentioned they can likely let me be there in a remote basis. BCG and a few other law blog sites have advised against accepting current firm counter-offers, e.g., likely to leave, not loyal, off partner track, etc., but would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Any idea why certain of the larger biglaw firms do not allow descriptive associate website bios unlike the more middle v100 firms?
