What software are you using? Clio has been a reasonably well designed tool for our team
You aren't wrong. They don't really ever ask for our input. The only time I have seen that done was when I worked at a very small two attorney firm. They basically let me run the show.
Definitely steer clear from abacus next or any amicus products tho
You mean we should have a software that just...refreshes to show all folders and files without clearing our cache? That we should be able to search for key terms and actually have all relevant files populate in the results? [I hate iManage with a burning passion.]
I have not experienced the issues you are reporting. It sounds like your firm did not make a wise choice for case management software. You should document the issues you experience and share it with the legal software company. And your firm administrator so you can demonstrate how it makes you less efficient/effective.
I am a former user of Clio case management software (CMS) at a previous firm where I was billable. Clio was terrific for me: for managing and delegating tasks with deadlines, and for tracking all my billable activities and hours! It was also possible to send the development team at Clio one's suggestions for UI and function bugs, If CMS breaks for you, other users probably have the same problems but don't take the time to report back so the legal software company can address the problem. Instead of complaining that they don't ask for your input, just give the software company your feedback!
At my current firm, CMS is not in use at all because the attorneys did not like using it, I have had to fashion my own tracking systems for everything, and I feel like I have gone back to 1999.
