I think it's important to maintain it if they ask for it. But you don't have to invest a lot of time in it. Sort of like how I have Facebook. I keep it in case I need it, but don't actively use it.
Seriously, LinkedIn is one of those things that would be good to jettison, but it's just required if you want to be working. The one thing I like about it is that I'm connected with with some former coworkers that I liked a lot, so it's nice to see what they're up to at times. For the most part, I just ignore it the platform, all the back slapping and log rolling gets too tiresome.
Who knows anymore... I see some of the people I work with now has zero trace of a LinkedIn footprint.. you can't find them anywhere...If you do have it, just keep it up to date so at least if someone looks at it, they can see it if they want.
Just keep your profile up to date and dont worry about engaging on the platform. I only created a profile for my taxpayers so they knew I was a former IRS agent back in the day. People do view it when I'm applying for jobs.
Keep the LinkedIn profile and update it. No need to constantly post and engage a lot.
Unfortunately, you need to keep LinkedIn. What I do (looking to get out of PA) is ignore any notifications which clearly have no relevance to my job search. It's hard because LinkedIn is designed to bombard you with stuff and overwhelm you. But that's the way I approach LinkedIn.
