Looking for feedback on comp and what to request next year. 2018 grad. Small firm (15 attorneys) in the midwest doing a mix of plaintiff and defense litigation. Enjoy the work and firm. $125k base - once collections hit $250k, 25% of receipts paid as a bonus. No cap. Currently at $160k for the year. Thoughts?

I would request 150 base

Salary might be low depending on your Midwest city. But since it’s a small Midwest law firm, this sounds decent for a mid level associate who can bring in clients and also wants work life balance.

Hi,
I am 3 years experienced in technical writing, currently working at 6 lpa. I am now looking for a change.
What salary should I expect, given that I am certified in DITA and Instructional Design Writing. I also know Wordpress (elementary), XML, Javascript, SQL, C, C++ and HTML 5.

Nyc based. Is it at all possible to make at least 200 base in corp dev or strategy at a tech company? Super burned out but don’t want to take a paycut in base. I realize I’ll never make all in comp the same in tech but if I can match base I’d be content.

I work at a small, 3 lawyer firm. One of the lawyers is not barred in the state we practice. Because of this, the managing attorney has been having him draft motions and other legal documents and use my name and bar number and having me file them because I will have to appear in court for the matter. Is this normal? I am not provided time to review the materials before I file them so I end up working longer days because I am nervous to file something using my name and bar number.

We are a firm of 5 transactional attorneys and the bonus structure is very unclear. The usual “based on personal performance and firm profitability” language. I wonder how this is calculated in general. What is the percentage bracket of the bonus? Assume it is a high performance 9+ year attorney and the firm is profitable (even with COVID). The based salary is low $120k. Firm is in Tx. I’d love to hear your comments.
