That's a common problem in the corporate world. There's often a lot of talk about transparency and accountability and everybody telling it like it is. You really need to be careful, however, sometimes if you tell it like it is, people really don't want to hear it. It's good to think twice before offering feedback and consider how it might land.

Leadership has to be the worse at holding themselves accountable and it’s not okay. But will fire us for the smallest things.

This is such a real issue—when “feedback” is only welcomed if it’s positive, it discourages honesty and trust. It’s exhausting to feel labeled as difficult just for being truthful. Framing feedback around impact and solutions can help, but leadership also has to be genuinely open for it to be safe. Otherwise, people naturally stop speaking up.

I refused to do an exit interview after I left a place. Same way I don’t give feedback on managers. It will inevitably fall on deaf ears or be used against you. Don’t do it, UNLESS you know you have a patient and understanding manager.
