I just landed a new contract role and wanted to share my salary experience. I was offered a role at $50 / hour and countered for $55/hour. They came back with $57.

$7 jump just like that.

In my heart I wanted to counter with $60 per the 21 cents rule. I think I left money on the table 😪


But hey, I’m grateful for the work.

Im interviewing and have a male friend/current employee who is very supportive of women's equal pay who shared his salary and told me what I should target. This man has one year less experience than me and I have owned my own business doing similar work as the role I am applying for. He got his offer May 2020 for $180k - Today I am being told the max is $170k. I guess the band could have changed… But highly unlikely. What do I do? Hard not to feel lowballed as a woman.

Anyone hiring sales roles?

I didn't think I was underpaid, but apparently I am at 90k + 20k, but I absolutely love my team and projects.
Recruiters are reaching out with remote opportunities ranging from 130k to 150k base (similar bonus). I really don't want to leave my current team. What's the best way for me to leverage for a higher base in my current role, without stepping on toes or damaging relationships? I know it won't jump to 130k, but a nice boost would really cut down on my FOMO.

Some advice from a regular remote interviewer - If you feel you can justify/maximise your value to a company above the current salary band, apply for the role, push for that higher salary and impress the heck out of the panel. You'll be surprised how open that conversation can be.

Company's have budgets in place for recruitment. Therefore, adjustments can be made to other open roles marginally to facilitate recruiting your higher salary request.

Can someone tell me more about business dev manager roles LS biotech industry? I am considering a move and want to know if they are similar to consulting roles in lack of wlb and constant obsession over creating client relationships or are they real strategy roles? I am good at strategy content etc. but don’t have the nosy attitude to kind of constantly self advocating and networking. Not saying that’s bad it’s just not me. In my second busy season of PA (2 years ago), auditing a specialty finance company that we all quickly came to realize stunk to high hell. We ended up issuing an adverse opinion over a disagreement with the client to book an approx. 100MM write down adjustment to deferred revenue. We walked away with the thought that we had just scratched the surface of their corruption. Fast forward 2 years and low and behold they’re under a 1.2B dollar investigation by the SEC and their CEO is in prison.

What in house jobs pay the most? As a more senior big law associate, I'll be pulling down around $500k this year with the bonus.

What sort of in house (aside from Fortune 500 GC roles) positions can compete with that?

Considering off ramps should partnership not be on the table in a few years.
