Completely agree. I was sharing my screen with client and typing stuff in (we were using it for tracking purposes) and my horrible spelling abilities showed through like it was going out of style.

I don’t mind that at all. I quite often get comments to the effect of “wow, you think you know excel and then you realize what it can actually do when you see someone that actually knows how to use excel”.

Do a lot of seniors in the advisory groups work weekends? I am coming from a group that has busy seasons sometimes we don't get a day off for a few weeks before the deadline. 80-100 hour weeks for me.

I just went to apply for a job and the application asked if I’ve ever worked in an audit capacity at KPMG because the company is our client. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Do companies exclude applicants that work at their audit firm from their candidate pool?

Tax senior with CPA at small firm. Best way to get to Big 4 audit? (LA or OC) Went to non-target so little to no alumni at B4. I don’t mind the switch to a lower title since audit was always my preference and was never a fan of tax (stayed local for family).
