PwC A recruiter from PWC reached out to me to ask if I’d consider a different office the one I applied to, since it’s full. It would be Boston, Hartford, Chicago, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Denver, San Francisco or San Jose. MSA candidate. Is there a fully remote option? Do you have to be in the office all the time? Is the compensation high at PWC? Is there a possible moving expenses? Any insight or advice would help me make a decision. Thank you!

I live on the East side and my brothers live on the South side. I personally prefer the East side but my brothers would tell you South side haha. I think it all depends on the person, I just think the East side is alot nicer.
I think it depends on if you enjoy the hippie vibes at all haha. South Austin is full of hippies, some real and some fake. And East Austin is a bit more gentrified, a lot more white. Saw this judgmental map of Austin several years ago and I think it's mostly still true: https://www.reddit.com/r/Austin/comments/1qxwb4/a_judgmental_map_of_austin/
East Austin was mostly minority in the 1980’s, change started happening early 2000’s.
I was e Austin for 10 years and then moved to North West hills /Mesa area and loved it. I Have kids though
Neither. Austin is full try Houston.
I loved east Austin when I lived there and if I would have stayed I don’t think I would have lived anywhere else.
Never lived east and never had a desire to personally. But did live south and loved it. Then lived south west (oak hill) and loved that as well. Now by the arboretum in the hills and this has been my favorite so far personally. The west with the hills is great if you enjoy the view and hiking you can do.
East always seems just terrible bc of the proximity to 35 which is always a nightmare. But, I’ve been to some cool spots, so, just depends on what you’re looking for honestly. I don’t go out often so I’d rather have a view and ease of access to stuff I need.
Define “South” and “East”.
Means different things to different people, especially those that were born and raised here.
I consider “South Austin” anything south of 71. Yet, many consider SA to be anything south of Town Lake.
Same goes for the East side.
South!
Both are good but depends what your lifestyle is like! I have always lived south but the bf and I wanted to live around east 6th for a bit when we moved in together because that is where we like to go out. Ended up not doing that since he owns his house and it would cost way more to rent there. Would have been fun though! I would say anywhere between Ben White and MLK would be good
Totally depends on where you are in life, how far you are willing to drive, how far East, how far south, where you work, if you are single, married or want a home or apartment. East Austin has become like a giant apartment/condo enclave. Lots to do. Tons of restaurants and trailers, high end and dive bars. I think its younger, and can be expensive if you want something new, but stll has bungalows within neighborhoods. South Austin is funkier, trends older. Close in is walkable with tons to do, but homes are 1-2 million and get more affordable the farther out you go. I would descrbe South as more old Austin, cooler vibe, more laid back, but with urban updates close in and more suburban further out. East is more trendy, more blended in terms of demographics. Take this all with a grain of salt from someone who lives in Central Austin with grown kids — one in Pflugerville and one in East Austin.
Also east due to being close to the airport was a naw from me. Just not my thing personally and remember to take that into account when picking your area!
South is south of Ladybird Lake, Town Lake for old-timers. East is is east of 35. Some trying to call it downtown, but it is definitely East Austin. Of course the further out you go it gets more suburban. Far far east is a lot of new track homes, small yards but new amenities. Close in is pricier and mixed use.
North 😌
