My colleague has been trying to convince me to go to a happy hour event he's set up after work tonight. I'm exhausted, and it's been a long week. But this guy won't take no for an answer. Should I just agree to go and then blow it off? I really don't want to hear about it all day today.

I would say something came up after work and I can’t make it or go for like 15 mins and say that it’s been a long week . Your colleague should understand that it’s the beginning of the weekend and you also have your own plans too .

Do you have one of those friends that can call you to “rescue” you from bad situations? Stop by, then 2 mins in, have your person call you and then leave. 🤷🏼‍♀️ if someone saw you and asks about it “oh yeah a friend called me and needed me for something, so I had to leave early.”

Your friend called you and needed you to go home and sleep. Not a lie. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I wouldn't go, but I'd have also given an excuse to get out of it the first time he brought it up. Since you can't do that now, I guess I'd just say something vague like "gotta take care of some stuff at home first, but I'll try to make it" and leave it at that. Then either show up for a drink and leave 20 minutes later, or blow it off entirely.

Agree or come up with a solid excuse. I usually say something about having to take my kid to this or that.

I'm a younger plaintiff's side attorney (31). Does anyone else feel like white attorneys give you a particularly harder time? Like unreasonably denying clear facts, or trying to fish for a way to sanction you? Usually it's solo defense attorneys that get extreme with it, but I've seen some questionable stuff from BigLaw too. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term. I try to ignore and just stay focused on what I need to do yet sometimes proves challenging. I worry it might affect my professional/career growth. Thoughts on this would be helpful, thanks!

Anyone have any tips to transitioning from CRC to CRA? Is a CCRC necessary for leveling up?

I’ve worked in clinical research in the academic/non profit world for the past five years. I want to transition to a role in pharma or a CRO, but haven’t been successful yet because I don’t have industry experience. Does anyone know of any CROs/pharma companies that are willing to hire someone with research expertise from an academic medical center rather than already in industry? Thanks!

Hi. I have applied for a job in an academic setting for a leadership role in cancer research. Duties would have me responsible for a small team of research nurses as well as other managerial duties for the department. I have been a research nurse for 3 years now, but I have no experience applying for a salaried position or a role in leadership. What sort of salary would be appropriate to ask for? I know that I should aim high and let them counter, but how high exactly? Thanks I’m advance

Good morning everyone! I am currently working as an Occupational Therapist at a Level 1 center but am looking to pivot into the clinical research field. Can anyone give any insight into transitioning from bedside to clinic research? Everytime I look online there seems to be certificate programs that may or may not be a scam/waste of money. Would appreciate any thoughts, insight, personal experience, referral., etc.!

Thank you!

Hi everyone. I’m trying to transition from working at a non-profit to a more profitable position within research. My current title at my org is as a CR-assistant. Any suggestions of good transitional positions within clinical research? (That could be done remotely). Thank you!!

Hey all! I have recently moved to a full time position wfh as a trial manager. It has been a struggle wfh so I am reconsidering my options. What positions are out there possible for transition for on site, except CRA?

Hi I have 5+ yrs of bedside clinical research nurse experience and have been trying to pivot to the CRO world. I have applied to over 40+ positions and keep getting rejected. I have reformatted my resume to ATS but that doesn’t seem to be working either. Why is it so hard to get into the CRO industry and why is my hospital experience not translating? Thanks

Has anyone transitioned from bedside/patient facing healthcare to clinical research? I am looking at making the switch and would appreciate any insight!

Hi all! I recently finished my Masters in Biology. I worked on a few studies with human subjects as well as animal work. I am hoping to get a job in clinical research as either a CRC or CRA. I previously worked at a doctors office as a care manager for 4 years, but outside of my academic work I don’t have experience in research. What advice do you all have for entering the field in my position?
Thanks!!

I’m looking to transition from an academic medical center to pharma or a biotech. I have about 8 years of clinical research experience overall — 7 years combined as a CRC (CRC I, CRC II, and senior CRC) and 1 year as a PM. I’m also recently ACRP-CP certified.

I’ve worked with many different industry-sponsors and CROs throughout the years, but many jobs I am applying to require experience at a biotech/CRO/pharma company. Would really appreciate any advice or referrals. Thanks in advance!
