My firm just announced a total raise freeze, but they are spinning it as a win because we're moving to unlimited PTO. For me, it feels like a huge red flag to wipe out accrued vacation payouts while locking our salaries. Is this a new industry-wide thing, or is it time to leave?

The move to unlimited PTO is a bigger loss for most professionals than the salary freeze (assuming it’s a one-year freeze) honestly. So, yeah, you just got double-F’d.

I agree

Our firm did this several years back.

They said it was because we asked for it. But then an email was leaked that explicitly said they were doing it for financial reasons and so people would take less PTO. I bet you can find more info if you Google it.

Your feelings are likely on point. Now you just need to decide how you feel about it and why.

Whining babies? Damn.. Lol.. Wonder how these partners would feel if the clocks were turned back and they were seniors with accrued PTO taken away.

I have turned down every job offer that had unlimited PTO. That was all of them last year, like 5. lol. Its the worst thing ever.

Update the resume and start looking. That is a double screw over at once.

It's almost impressive that they could screw them over and justify it with a second set of screwing them over. If people believe it that is very creative.

The move to unlimited PTO means that they don't have to payout any unused PTO when someone leaves the company. It some states it is a requirement for companies to payout any unused PTO when they leave the company.

You may want to consider start looking for a new role. I am sure their are reasons behind the raise freeze and move to unlimited PTO. Maybe the company is facing some financial trouble right now.

That's a straight negative IMO. Def no positive spin unless they stink yall stoopid. No raise but unlimited PTO? Lol.. I'd be looking for a new role.

We all know unlimited PTO is just another way to milk the cow dry.
