If you can't finsih your work in the hours given its either under-scoped or more difficult than expected.
You’re young and trying to make a good impression so I totally understand your effort. However, nowadays when you join places as part of a “class” of associate consultants, your career progression is kind of tied to your peers. The extra effort you’re putting in is only marginally putting you ahead of your peers, but you’ll all probably get promoted at the same time.
When you add in the fact you’ll probably leave in a couple years, this kind of grid in this stage of your career is not worth it. Take it from someone who did it.
Save the grind till you’re a Senior Associate if you really want to impress and climb. Honestly they just want to make sure you can spell your name your first year.
