I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

Is there a chance? Yes. As long as the posting still up. And no outright rejection.
Is the chance decent? No one knows. It could be the slow before holidays. It could be the team is engaging with more qualified candidates.
It’s better to be mentally prepared, it’s really tough getting into Google this year without a referral (hell, even with a referral)
Sometimes the recruiter never changes it. Less likely if the posting has gone down :(
What type of role/org did she apply for? I’ve had mixed luck but generally my experience is that the hiring assessment isn’t a strong positive indicator itself
I passed the hiring assessment in the summer, still no interviews. I think it is only to test eligibility of the type of employee you are (e.g.googleyness).
Did your “assessment passed” status eventually turn into “not proceeding”? Or does it just stay there forever
