I like the way you’re thinking about your career. Too many people in the technology community (especially cybersecurity) allow things to happen to them and you seem to want to make things happen for yourself. So, I think you’re already halfway there.
Bootcamps, books, and BS / MS degrees will not cut it. They are part of a larger career strategy.
And, as a CISO, I am seeing that times have changed, so what made a network engineer successful in the past, and even up to 24 months ago, isn’t the same today
Technical skills are now table stakes. Expectations in today’s market now include the ability to communicate with people outside of technology and some level of business acumen. A career strategy is an absolute must.
