Hello I just started my first job (I’m 22) and I need to set up a 401k for matching with my company. I’m really confused how this works because I want to try to hit the IRS maximum of $19,500 for Roth contributions this year. Maybe it’s too late in the year now, but it’s asking me to pick my desired contribution % per pay period, but I’m not sure how much to do because it says it’ll kick in 1-2 pay cycles and I don’t even know when the next pay check comes yet. Job transition question: I recently accepted an offer for a new role with Merrill Lynch, the following day I was fired from my previous employer. I haven’t filled out the updated work history background check info yet. The reason for termination was due to performance expectations not being met. Should I reach out to my new employer and let them know that I’ve been terminated? Should I just put the termination update on the background check form and leave it at that? I left HS counseling for advising in higher education due to a toxic work environment at my former school. How do you all do it?! It’s hard work! I respect you all so much!

I feel like the lines of work hours is non existent. Getting texts from staff after hours, being told to be flexible when we are doing our outreach for students not engaging, and students requesting meetings at 6pm. Ummm I don’t get a flex schedule so I would still be required to work my normal hours.
