We talk about keeping rigor in our classes, however I’m finding my HS students need straight forward instructions. Most students are struggling to meet their Maslow’s needs that to use higher Blooms seems like a stretch. How are you all supporting creativity and originality in artwork when kids are struggling to keep afloat?

I’m getting sick of getting a brief and asked to create a cool new campaign with amazing designs in less than a day. My best work isn’t turned around in less than 24 hours. And for background, I have pushed back literally every time. Nothing seems to be getting better.

Had a really bad day 😞 I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself. Things will be going well and then out of nowhere I get blackout drunk. I am tired of feeling sick and anxious from drinking. I don’t really even want to drink sometimes but do it anyway. Blacked out last night, and still feel sick now. I’ve never shared with anyone that I have this problem, until I found this message board. I have so much anxiety that I won’t be able to get this under control. I feel isolated and sad.

I've decided to enroll in NYU's tax LLM program part-time this fall. I'm currently at a V50 firms and I'm in the middle of lateral interviews. Would updating my application with this news hurt or help my offer prospects?

Junior biglaw tax associate here. Considering an internal transfer vs lateral to NYC from a smaller market. Any firms in the v20 I should avoid/look into? I have pretty reasonable hours at my current firm and trying to avoid going to a sweatshop. Interested in international tax and hoping to avoid m&a. Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations. Like, sure, the market is there but no authority really blessed it (other than some Cravath partner’s article in Tax Notes in 2013). If we are talking asset class that isn’t really like marketable securities but might be able to treat it similarly solely by virtue of, say, valuation on a quarterly basis (contd)
