And if they don’t reward you, then leave. There are other places that will, and the last thing I’d have any patience for is wasting time.
UXD1- wow! Which agencies? And how many years of experience do senior UX designers typically have?
Depends on agency, some agencies will bump you up quickly the range I’ve seen is 2-4 years. But tbh I’d worry less about the title and more on making sure you’re politely aggressive with salary (as long as you’re killing it skill wise). I’d suggest asking for what you think you deserve, I’m a mid level making more than most seniors. Companies pay you for providing value, find creative ways both internally and client facing to to deliver above and beyond value and you’ll be rewarded.
Wow. You’re making more than 130k with less than 3 years of experience? That’s really impressive. Congratulations first and foremost. Secondly- 2-4 years is really amazing for senior level. Is it right to assume that person would be a mid level UX by second year and senior by third?!
Yep 120. At a diff agency, similar to RGA but larger.

Haha I’m 2.5 years out of undergrad college. No masters first job out of college was at RGA

❤️ lol
Not that much...😂 100k. Looking for a new job though! If you know of any recruiters let me know 😇
130-145
I’m so glad I asked. I thought 85-95 was pretty good lol
I’ve see XDs go from junior to senior in 3 years at agencies like R/GA. So it’s definitely possible. I’m shooting for 2.5 years
I see. RGA is def on my radar but I was worried agencies don’t pay well. The range is 130-145 over there for someone with ~3 years of experience? Are you over 100k at the moment?
R/GA is going through a rough patch so I wouldn’t expect them to be able to pay that much. But other agencies will.
Do you have any prior experience other than the 2.5 years in UX?
I was lurking on the general bowl and it looked like people were in the 70-90 range but maybe they weren’t strict UX and more on AD/ design side. Nice!
I graduated from a 4 year bachelors with a double major Graphic design and interaction design. Most of my professors were also CDs at R/GA, Wolf Olin’s, etc... in fact when I first got hired I got hired as a visual designer for a year.
Dude that’s really impressive. Was your starting salary high? Any tips for negotiating? It seems the best way to get pay bumps is to hop around...
I started at 55k believe it or not haha. When I transitioned from visual to XD I got bumped up and then when I hopped to another place I got
Bumped a lot more. Yes hopping around bumps you more than staying, but companies care about loyalty a lot so i wouldn't bounce around too often.
