I think my required salary depends on their benefits because if I have to pay for insurance then my salary needs to go up. does that make sense?
That does make sense. But I’d have a hard time calculating that….
I'm convinced there is no good all-purpose answer to this. That's simply because different organizations, and different people, may respond differently. What's important is that the answer, what it is, comes across as professional and offered in good faith. It's when people provide numbers that come across as unserious that they get into trouble.
Hmm that is understandable and also makes it difficult. I’ll tell you that each time I used different answers and none responded lol but it could’ve been something else.
Personally, I think it's going to vary by candidate and by job posting.
First of all, do you know your worth? If you undervalue yourself, your employer will too. Some jobs are willing to pay more than what they list for the right candidate. But if you tell them off the bat that you want $5k more than they offer they'll throw your resume away. Tell them it's negotiable, let them fall in love with you, then negotiate upward.
Or maybe you're willing to take less because the benefits are great, the company offers you learning and development opportunities you wouldn't see elsewhere, or your best friend would be your office mate. In this scenario, I would put negotiable because you want to try for your target rate but you're willing to negotiate.
But if the salary range is within your desired range and you feel you're a good fit, put what you expect. Let them know you're aligned.
I appreciate your feedback. I honestly need more help understanding my worth. Sometimes I think I know but my work tells me otherwise (that I should be grateful). I’ve been conflicted.
my desired range, plus negotiable given full compensation package or something like that to indicate that there is some flexibility on my end
I’ll have to try that. Thanks
Find the h1b salary and add 10-15%
You are welcome
I don’t answer
It’s usually a mandatory box, I put what I am expecting and don’t think too much of it
