Go with the flow. Less stress that you don't need. Been here multiple times and avoiding any stress is healthier for you.
Well in some countries (like the U.K.) you can’t even access unemployment unless you’ve been at the company for over 2 years (and even then it’s peanuts) or you have absolutely zero in your bank account. Focus on finding a new role, I’m sure you’ll be in high demand and dealing with people who will pay you accordingly
I believe in the US, it’s 18m of previous work to qualify and it’s an average of your income from the 4 quarters.. it’s still peanuts.
It has been years since I went through a layoff. It was very difficult and that was way before the world is today. So let me say I wish you good fortune. It went thru anger at being forced outside a career path I picked for myself and the fact I had given 10years of my career to the company and was ousted after performing very well. I also felt the sting of others who were political staying when I didn’t play that game. I took a job to pay bills and I was upset for a while. But I eventually got back into the saddle and took control of my career finding a different job which led to the job I now have. Don’t give up. Get a baseline even if it means stepping back. Regroup and use the next year or so to reset and plan your next move. Keeping your eye on the long game. It will pay off.
