Okay, what does a month of groceries look like for two people? Doing my budget for a move, and I have no clue how much an LA avocado costs.

LA avocados are actually really cheap because they grow around here lol. But on the real if you’re going to Ralph’s/Vons/Trader Joe’s I didn’t really notice a major price difference between them and my grocery stores back in the Midwest. However if you’re a Bristol Farms/Erehwon/Gelsons type of person then yes groceries can be stupid expensive.

Are you buying the Avocados from the guy next to the 5 of from Whole Foods?

I would avoid Erewhon and Whole Foods and stick with cheaper. I’d budget 300-500 a month depending on how often you go out

like

There’s zero price different in grocery stores. The difference is more in going out to eat/drink at restaurants and bars. Drinks are $20 and most entrees/apps are $20. Basically everything is $20 and smaller portions 😀

All of the above 😂 though I’ve only really been to the nicer/more expensive places so far and I miss just going out to a casual bar where the drinks aren’t crazy expensive

Gas is the expensive part

I mean…Whole Foods can run you $150 a week if you’re cooking you meals regularly. If you like farmers markets I’d say maybe $100 but you’ll def be needed to supplement at a grocery store for stuff you can’t get there. I shop at Whole Foods but I’ve been trying to avoid it. Love farmers market but again you gotta be cooking your meals weekly otherwise stuff rots quick and it a waste of money. If you’re into that green lifestyle peep out Zero Grocery which is a little pricey but man do they source veggies, meats, prepared dips, salsas, etc right. Whenever possible I stick with Zero (no plastics, all packaged in sustainable packaging) plus a little WF or FM where needed. Oh price! I mean…$500 min monthly but truthfully speaking more like $750+. I don’t have kids guys! Must find joy and fulfillment through my stomach. Also, Italian.

Couple.

Groceries - $100 weekly for a couple if you mostly do TJs and Ralph’s, occasionally WF Drinks/going out - $150 a weekend? Lol really depends the kinda weekend you’re tryna have Restaurants - $100 weekly but also depends how much you cook/where you live Gas - $40-90 weekly depending on your car That being said, if you budget really well you can still have an enjoyable life if you mostly cook & go out just once a week

Thoughts on Indexed Universal Life Insurance as an investment vehicle? I hear the pros and cons from the sellers of this, whom I understand gain heavy commissions. But wanted to get thoughts from investors and if this isn't a good vehicle, what alternative investment vehicles do you suggest (outside of stocks, Roth, 401k, and real estate)? Looking to diversify my portfolio. I'm 43, married, income 600k combined, and we have 2 properties worth 3m and investment accounts worth ~2-3m. Thanks!

Anyone have experience with a Base + RSU only offer from AWS? The base very small, with a 2 year “cash sign on” that brings TC back up to a reasonable level.
