Hi Applied to PwC Strategy& for a consultant role and havent heard back from a recuiter however, I received an email for a survey asking what am I looking for in the company in terms of their culture, values etc and what other companies I have applied to. Is this a typical process? Not sure if thats the step 1 in the process or I have been rejected. Any feed back is appreciated. I am graduating from Ohio State with an MBA and have 8 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance.

It is a numbers game. The more you put your application out there the more you will get hit up.
As for tips:
You should approach it like an engineer would.
Create a series of columns to track the percentage where you are failing so that you can improve.
Application | Phone Interview | First Interview | Second Interview
Track the failure percentage and improve from there.
If failure is highest at:
Application - then it is your resume.
Phone screen - then you need to talk about company goals more to impress the non technical HR person.
First Interview - then it is your technical skills
Second Interview - maybe your behavior/situation questions
I made something similar where I organized it more as a reflection on why I failed at certain interviews and how to improve from those experiences. I think your suggestion is better!
Your search is going to be brutal due to that time off. You need to first get a job, any job.
Jobless bias is real and significant
There will definitely be questions about that gap, but if the reason is substantial enough than I would say as long as you've been doing side courses/certs to keep your skillset sharp you have a chance. It would be a tough job hunt though for sure
The advice “of applying to every job and see what sticks” has its drawbacks. Whatever you apply, read the job descriptions properly and put some research into the company and position if you do get called for interview. I have interviewed candidates that don’t even know where we are located or what they hell they applied to. It’s a employer market now. We have some mechanical position out and I am getting 2-3 resumes a day. I have some many resumes on my inbox it’s not even funny. And to top it off, a lot of these resumes are so poorly written.
As many as you can while focusing on quality over quantity. The job market is quite tough these days so you want to make sure you're maximizing your chances of hearing back by putting out as many apps as possible. The fact that you're getting interviews is great, that puts you ahead of the curve.
Just keep going and do not give up.... apply as much as possible, but prioritize word of mouth and referrals. 70% of available jobs are mainly through networking and word of mouth....they are never advertised.... understand this.. it is the way life works
