On the most recent Medscape survey, a little over a third of physicians do some work outside of their medical practice, whether medically related or not. Do you have a side hustle? What's your main motivation?

Yes, my sideline is to invest in physical stores. I hope to retire early and enjoy life. First of all, you must understand what you rely on to survive and what is the purpose of your work?

Wow! Now this is a sad state to be in as a country. I know I may be out of touch but growing up one of the major appeals to becoming a physician was the salary. You would bust your bit through med school and due internships , fellowships, etc and basically have no life then you come out on the other side with a lucrative career. Now you do all of that plus more and many of us still need side jobs to get by. I bet the student loans kids today have to take out are a leading reason for this.

Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

What is a fair salary/hourly for a kitchen manager in Tampa FL? Small kitchen with 3 to 4 kitchen assistants. Kitchen is open 50 hours a week. Manager has full creative license and has no one above them in the chain of command outside of owners.

I started a job with a restaurant as part time they hired me at a higher wage but after working for one week the other manager came to me telling me that they can’t afford what the other manager and I agreed on so now i have to work at less or I could look for another work options, she meant I should leave otherwise. What should I do?

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞
