Additional Posts in Job Hunting in Tech
I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

I feel like all the interviews I engaged in over the last year were with people robotically reading from a script and asking the same really boring questions with zero interest or follow up to my responses. As a competitive candidate, it is hard not to sound rehearsed in these scenario.

So true!!!
Someone once told me I came across as too technical, and at first it stung. But when I relaxed a little and let more of my real personality show, things started going a lot better. Sometimes the hard feedback is what actually pushes you forward even though it hurts

That’s such a good point — sometimes a small shift like that makes a huge difference. Appreciate you sharing!
It was actually during a practice interview with a friend, they told me that I wasn’t being direct enough with some of my answers. I do have a tendency to try and be on both sides of everything. Really appreciated that and focused on being a little more sure of my answers.

Love that you took it in stride. Being more direct is definitely a skill that pays off!
I can remember getting some interview feedback that was unsaid, but I understood it. The person interviewing me was letting me know, purposely or not, that my answers were too rambling and must have seemed quite boring. That made me realize that it's so necessary to really edit your thoughts and just hit the essential point. In a funny way it was good to talk to someone who kind of squirmed as I babbled away.

Totally hear you — learning to be concise is such an underrated skill. Thanks for sharing your experience!
