Thinking about online teaching. What works best to show students how you work through a problem: document camera or electronic tablet or something else? Recommendations of specific technology?

Don't know what subject you teach but with math, I use a electronic tablet while recording the video or use the tablet while presenting on Google Meet. The whiteboard function is great but it's so hard to write using the mouse. We all have one at school and I'm happy I remembered to bring mine home. I didn't even think about the document camera but I'm sure that works just as well. I didn't think to bring that one home. What doesn't work well for math is just talking it out. The students need to see is done step by step.

I am using Google meet and hung a white board in my guest room.

On an IPad, explain everything is good.

Zoom also has a whiteboard feature.

I use “explain everything” which is a whiteboard app and an apple pen on my iPad. It allows you to download a word document and records your voice and writing as you explain a process. Very simple to use.

Skype for business and screen share. I use OneNote and can write with my stylus. Works great.

Hi car 🐟

Been looking into 2019 Infiniti QX50, Lincoln MKC, Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, and other similar compact to mid size SUVs but having hard time making the decision.

What are some affordable SUVs that i can buy with ~$25k budget? Hopefully it's post 2019 model and has good fuel economy and reliability (low maintenance cost). I'm less concerned on the mileage but wanting good horsepower (~250hp). Any suggestions? Thanks for your insights.

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. My question is this: “Is it legal by California Ed code for the administration to ask me to teach less than each entire semester, yet test each whole semester?”

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

Thoughts on Engage NY/Eureka math...

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.
