If you are below the rank of manager you will be staffed on IFCS or ARPA work. Don’t believe anyone telling you otherwise. You’re being brought on to replace people who left because of the type of work.
Facts
If you decided to join, just stay open minded and there will be interesting work in the practice at some point. That being said, a lot of what we do are not necessarily reactive work, many are compliance related.
Agree with the comments above. At the end of the day you will be paid (imo) a lot of money for the type of work being done.
Wish people didn’t dump so hard on the IFCS and cost recovery work and I understand it’s not what you came here to do, but really think about what would’ve happened to Forensics if not for it. Just look at the numbers.
Mentor
Agreed that everyone acts like ifcs is this undesirable service line when it’s basically saved us during Covid. That being said, our leaders are not transparent to either new hires who think they’ll be doing cool investigations, or our current staff we routinely tell “just wait a few more weeks and then you can roll off!”
What region?
Looking for NYC area

FYI, im below manager and do not work on Ifcs. It does exist, bu agree alot of work is covid related.
Asking about LA region. I'm interviewing for Investigations and Compliance (I&C) at EY. I currently work with Investigations and Disputes at RSM, so my biggest concerns are (1) being stuck doing primarily IFCS work as I&C at EY (2) work life balance
LA is a much better place to be for dispute work because of the partners there. Covid work with state and local governments will be a thing for the next two years so just be aware of that. At the end of the day we often conflict out of disputes because we are a big 4 - you know until the split and mass exodus…
Thanks everyone, all the info has been really helpful!
FWIW, I received an offer as S1, NYC. 100K base, 7.5k signing bonus. Didn't like the sound of KYC, AML, and insurance projects so I declined (didn't even try to negotiate)
that’s actually a lot higher than i assumed you’d get offered.

A diverse group. If you are open to it you can get a lot of experience and exposure to regulatory issues. Since joining I’ve worked on large IT clients, big Pharma, Construction, Power and Utility, and Defense clients. I’ve learned a lot in a short period of time.
I have some hospital based IFCS work but also do investigations, distributor audits, compliance assessments and some industry specific work. I enjoy the variety and that I get to work on different things. I’ve found the culture to be good.
