Which firm? I’d say depends on if you see yourself with them long term + how fast progression is.
You can join Putnam as SAC and get promoted quickly (think less than 1 year). Just need to prove yourself early on. Comp is a lot better at C level, so it makes up for the short-term cut you might be taking.

Oh shoot forgot to put - it’s Putnam
Got it, I’m actually at Putnam. I’ve seen most post MBA EH come in as SAC at Putnam. We hire very few people directly at the consultant level because they typically take too long to ramp up/struggle to ramp up.
Typical promotion timeline are 1 year but if comp is a big factor, then def look into other firms.
I thought you join as a Senior Consultant post MBA. That’s what I’m seeing on LinkedIn.

That’s what I expect as well. That post mba join as C / SC depending on how much experience prior mba. After 2 years as C I’m expecting SC now so rather taken aback with offer two levels down
Putnam tends to hire you at the level before what you’d be to let you get up to speed before doing that role. You’d be expected to progress quickly to next level if you do well
