Our firm keeps losing strong associates to in-house roles or burnout. The partners call it normal attrition, but it’s starting to feel like a red flag. When do you start worrying that you’re next?

Started work at Accenture a month ago. I was interviewing for McKinsey at the same time and have just now got an offer. I want to leave Accenture. But will it show up on my Background check that I left? I never had Accenture on my resume to start with so not planning on putting it down. Assuming HireRight will be used for the background check.

Any insights or tips for CMAAS senior associate interviews?

I am currently working as analytics professional. Some of the work included but not limited to are Insights generation, root cause analysis, creation and maintenance of data pipeline for owned charters and projects.

Regularly used tools are SQL (Hive, Trino, MSSQL), python, dashboarding tool.

I am lead counsel on a case - we’re suing 3 businesses and my supervisor is a named incorporator of one of the businesses although he is not an officer. He is asking me to bring the file and meet with him about the progress of the case. I reminded him of the conflict and he stated that the conflict was resolved because he also has a claim against 1 of the companies that he recently filed separately. I don’t see how that resolved the conflict…and he’s fully pressuring me to meet. How to respond?

I was one of the big firm stealth layoffs in covid and joined a boutique firm in Sept. They came sort of close to matching my salary but I moved to SoCal and have an opportunity to jump back in to big law and get $100k raise. The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon? How do you tell them when the managing partner took you under his wing?

How terrible is workers comp defense? Got laid off and I’m assessing what jobs I want to go after and which ones are backups if I get desperate.

Second year associate here who recently switched from litigation to corporate law. I am absolutely swamped while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing ever and I’m feeling so burnt out. I have an interview at a firm that focuses on criminal defense. I currently work in ID and have years of previous PD experience. I’ve never worked in private criminal defense. What questions should I ask in the interview? What should be looking at to evaluate whether it is a good practice?

Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.
