I really don't care what people ask but I try to gauge if the person wants to work in pe cause they actually like it or just doing it for $ or perception of the lifestyle. Pretty easy to get a read on the younger people.

Demonstrate understanding in unique deals or ask questions about atypical ones. Do your own due diligence a be able to explain an idea behind a deal from your own pov. Show you like the work and like finding deals

We talk about this @wallstreetbook (join us on insta!) — I always like asking what surprised them the most (or what surprises their associates the most) when they join the firm. It’s a good way to tease out candid facts without asking too specifically

Does anyone have advice/ experience with disclosing or advocating for your ADHD support needs in highly toxic environments? Or getting formal disability accommodations?

I’m on a VERY toxic project where I really need accommodations but I am scared there will be repercussions if I personally disclose my ADHD like I have on past projects.

I submitted an HR request for accommodations and it’s been ignored for over a week.

I really can’t take another week of spending every day crying.

Got my citizenship this year planning to start processing GC for my parents. They are in their mid and late 60s, how do you think are the odds of approval? Also does the health and medical insurance work differently in different states. Will they be eligible for medicare if they get a GC without an earning tenure in US of 10 years ?

Additional Posts in Finance Exit Opportunities

On LinkedIn, all the resume and industry switching gurus talk about adding value, numbers, and results to your resume. In retail, I think significant stats that aren’t just how many credit cards you sold are difficult to find. Any suggestions on where to look? Should I start manually keeping track of different things that would look good for my next move?

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

I'm seriously contemplating taking a software development boot camp to make a career change. For those who hire new software developers, does it make you stand out if you get your certificate from a university instead of a coding academy (like coding dojo or something)? I noticed the universities are a bit more expensive but is it worth the price to have a university on your resume or does it not really matter?

Left my first job after just shy of two years because I was bored. Have been at my current job for about half a year and it’s a great resume builder but an absolute horror story (long hours, unreasonable clients, tons of weekend work that’s not worth the pay). If I left in a few months, at the 10 month mark, would that significantly hurt my chances of getting a strong exit opportunity? I can’t imagine staying here for the full year but I don’t want to blow my chances at leaving for a cool job
