“Plaintiff avers amicable demand to no avail.” OBVIOUSLY, I know what it means, but why don’t YOU tell me what YOU think it means?

Why not use normal language? Do you speak that pretentiously in real life? Get rid of the legalese

like

Nah homie
That language was used in one of the few wrongful death complaints I reviewed tonight.
Just being cheeky, Mate

so weird

Is this like a stubbornly litigious allegation? Like the plaintiff tries to make a reasonable demand but defendant acts in bad faith and ran up attorneys fees and litigation costs with a “so sue me” attitude.

Has anyone ever asked to renegotiate their salary after starting a job? I’m 2 months into my new job and I have far more responsibilities than what I was told. It’s a lot different than what was relayed in the posting and during the interviews. Additionally, they hired my counter part in as a senior manager which is at least $30k more than what I make. My peer has more experience so I expect that but I feel that I should be paid more, however I don’t want to leave a bad impression… any advice?

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??
