My opinion based on the info you gave:
You look a little underpaid. Shouldn’t be too hard to get more than your current TC.
Additionally, finding remote work is getting harder and harder unless you’re willing to work for less prestigious or unknown firms, or just get lucky. The competition for those roles is higher (for obvious reason) vs. In-person or hybrid. Hybrid will be your most likely option.
Thanks for sharing.
128k is 2nd year sr consultant salary. You gotta jump more often to market correct your salary. They're taking advantage of you being content.
Given OP said its been 3 yrs -- late 2020 offers were actually really good.
I've seen TC offers go down since the post covid hiring surges in late 2020 through 2021
You are definitely underpaid
Two thirds of my time in consulting have been doing BA work, the remaining third as a PM. Most recent work was a BA. It was the only way to stay fully remote at my firm this whole time. Would like to get on a PM track again.
Was it a full time top ~50 MBA? Are you doing commercial client facing work?
If yes to both -- youre underpaid and can probably jump elsewhere for a decent raise at a larger firm (B4 / ACN / IBM / etc.)
If you're public sector / non client facing / sub 50 mba or online MBA then your TC is probably on point with other offers you'd get
It's not that offers are less base $ now -- there are just fewer offers but at same comp so more competitive to get
Also other TC things like signing / retention/ year end bonuses are all lower now
On the layoff front -- I do know M&A vert was pretty hard hit but expected given the drop of activity in the space and those folks being the highest paid staff on average
One of the few groups that did "market" vs. "Performance" layoffs
Your total comp seems really low. You should be at 180k minimum imo.
What type of PM experience do you have?
As a consultant i did about a year of PMO work for a tier 1 bank. Big regulatory program with a bunch of project workstreams, I backed up one of the workstream PMs too. Prior to consulting I did time as an implementations PM. I have other experience where here I was officially a BA but the responsibilities were managing internal projects for my department, thats when I decided to get a PMP (end of 2019 I think).
Underpaid. Let me know if you want an Accenture referral!
Just seeing this! Whoops. That would be lovely.
