Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

They are asking *you* to move, so that means they need to make it worth your while. You’re obviously a valuable resource or they wouldn’t ask for this. NYC is indeed very expensive, and they know that. You are justified in requesting both COL adjustment and they should pay your moving costs. If you can get them to promote you as well, all the better. If they agree to the promotion, definitely ask for 140k. Well, don’t ask for it, ask for 150k but don’t settle for less than 140. Since you’re just getting promoted, next year the bonus/raise will be less.
Oh wow, that could lead to quite a salary discrepancy if you dont negotiate ahead of time. For NYC M1, I feel like $125-145k is average, but that's quite the jump from $95k.
You’ll want to make at least 130 as an m1 in nyc.
You can't really go for anything. It's what they bump you up. Usually it's 17-25%.
If you're making 95 expect to make 115k as m1 in tech enablement.
You can certainly make the business case and see if they will factor in the COL increase. Recommend you bring it to someone’s attention BEFORE the curve.
OP if they are asking you to move your comp communicator (spml I assume) will include the COL adjustment at year end when you promote.
You can't really bargain but you can express a concern. Idk many stories of people who have negotiated salary on that year end call since all the numbers have been crunched out by then. It's more that you're told that ____ will be your new base and ____ is your variable comp bonus
M1- that’s what I’m worried about in case they don’t give me a good enough bump! I’ll probably not move.... I’ve noticed nyc is waaaaay more expensive than Midwest !
SA1- but wouldn’t that be too low for nyc? That’s what I would expect in Midwest without the move
M2- yeah I’m trying to figure out what should be the minimum number, I was gonna go for 140... is that too high?
If you’re from Midwest, you need to make double to live the same way here in New York, don’t consider long term stay, it’ll make you feel like shit
You’ll need to make more than double to be able to afford a tiny studio. You won’t save any money. It’s loud, crazy, and so very diff from the rest of the country. You will meet a lot of amazing people. You will have so many new doors open in front of you but you have to want to not just accept the lifestyle you have to love it.
Something to consider- try to get promotion based on NYC salary before the move. This will allow you to get the manager level moving stipend which is $18,500, tax free, plus mileage or airfare for the physical move
