Hi Fishes, I've accepted offer from Accenture from their portal.. But now got new offer from EY and wants to join at EY. So how can I tell Accenture Accenture India that I'm not going to join them. Rather than not showing up on the date of joining? Can you please guide me? How do I let them know? My talent coach is not reachable

I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?

I don't understand why you would want to be stuck as a career agent. A lot easier getting a firm to pay for law school part time and you would make a lot more money after it and likely have a guaranteed attorney gig
Thanks for the responses.
Experience: I have been a patent agent for 6 years in BigLaw and have been involved in all aspects of patent lifecycle — invention harvesting, preparation, prosecution, litigation support, licensing, etc.
Current situation: I have a decent lsat score and admits from multiple law schools. However, I don’t want to do patent litigation, and I don’t see the value in going to law school and doing patent preparation prosecution afterwards, especially with the reducing budgets.
I have done a lot of autonomous vehicles related work and that’s what prompted this startup to reach out to me.
Scope of this role: I’ll be the first IP hire. They want me to work with the R&D team and build their patent portfolio, help with clearance studies, and give input on product development from patent’s perspective.
The offer: $165K base; $120K stock options (4 years vesting schedule); $20K signing bonus + relocation. Location is Salt Lake City.
I think the offer is pretty good. What do you guys think of the offer, particularly the stock options offering? Is this standard for in-house role?
MORE IMPORTANTLY — will I have the option to move away from law and be in management in the future, especially if I get an MBA (part time)? I don’t wanna go to law school 😅
I’ve never heard of in-house patent agent advancing beyond … well patent agenting. If you wanna go management, apply to McKinsey, Bain, BCG. Or, bulge bracket IB.

Go on... what's the offer?

What’s your level of experience and what is the scope of the role? I’m house patent prosecution roles are typically one of two (broadly speaking): management of outside counsel, or a cost reduction measure (I.e., in sourcing drafting and pros to reduce outside counsel fees). What’s this role like? How does it stack against your goals?

For context, I started out my patent career in house at a big company about 10 years ago. This is what I did after:
Go to law firm, doing pros / drafting
Go to law school
Continue pros / drafting for 2 more years at a new firm, but also started doing some lit work
Go to another firm doing IP lit exclusively
Thanks to everyone who responded.
Update: I negotiated and then accepted the offer. I told the CTO during negotiations that I wanna eventually transition into product management. He appeared open to it.
Gonna take a leap of faith and see what happens.
Will provide an update here again in 2 years lol.
