Actually, the more I think about this the more I support it. I've never had an issue being utilized, and while this forum likes to wax philosophical on how pointless it is to evaluate a person by the money they make their firm, it really is the most important metric upon which you can evaluate a person at the SA and low M levels of our company.
If you are an employee with more than 1 year at the firm, then utilization issues are usually your own doing.
I am fully supportive of it. I am in a practice that is almost 100% utilized and it would piss me off that someone who is below 85% in another practice can get a 1 or a 2, when I'm working my ass off. Sorrynotsorry
We charge 8 hour day even if we work 14 hours a day!
And sales 😔
Why would this make anyone jump ship. I feel like it level sets expectations. The point is being profitable to the firm and making it fair for those that do bill high. I had 113% utilization last year even being on the bench for about a month. I found opportunities to work on multiple jobs etc. I don't want someone who does the bare minimum to get a 1 or 2 because they are well liked.
What does it say?
Just trying to squeeze the blood out of the turnip
80% !?? What vertical are you. How the hell js manager 82 in mine.
Associate is the only level where utilization target is below the level above you - I think that's reflective of the time for onboarding and other stakeholdering that happens when you are new to the firm and have no direct proven capabilities yet out of undergrad.
I love how they publish the required util for an undisclosed amount aka expected 20, got 6
Overall no big deal - but imo A1 and SA1 fresh out of school shouldn't have util targets when a lot of the staffing process is completely out of their control.
Telecom
I think this is crazy.
^ What the heck do you know about an internal PwC email?
Actually, we charge 50 hour weeks and often more because actuals can hit the 70+ range. So can be tough if you have a director or partner that informally pushes you to cut hours, but otherwise not totally unreasonable
May be a TMT specific. If you don't hit 84% for senior or 82% manager you can't get even a 2.
Damn. That's crazy.
What I don't understand is, minimum utilization for SA & A is 80% and EA is 83%!? Shouldn't SA have higher minimum requirement
What email? Why dint I get it?
What do those stand for again?
