In addition to practicing cases, make sure to prepare stories showcasing key competencies (e.g., initiative, drive, communication) to concisely answer any fit questions. You typically get 15 minutes for the fit, so having your stories ready will help you sell yourself to the best extent possible.

Agree with OW1–I’d also advise having more than one example ready for each trait you’re trying to showcase (when the interviewers talk later, its better to have multiple examples rather than repetition)

Good Luck!

Make sure to get your math right. Also, think beyond the numbers. Always thinking about what they mean for that business and that industry. Synthesize as you go (I passed a first round recently)

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?
