I wish I wasn’t adaptable. Humans aspire for a greater level of comfort and once achieved, adopt that as their new baseline. Because of this, somebody making $100k cannot simply comfortably revert back to a $50k lifestyle. The slow growth of personal wealth isn’t noticed as ideated. Instead, we are never satisfied.

Seeking feedback on GAP insurance. I had a family member who purchased a car in June or July. They were in an accident last week and it sounds like the car will be declared a total loss. I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful.
