You'll never use the under storage. The drawers look pretty small and can't think what you'd have to have under there.
But biggest reason is this: opening and closing drawers makes noise... Which is something you'll become hypersensitive too. With a sleeping baby in the crib, I wouldn't open that drawer to save my life. And my baby sleeps pretty deeply. Still wouldn't risk it.
Recommend a crib with strong bars and a good top that locks.
Depends on your needs and available space. We have the storage in our changing table, so went with a fairly classic convertible crib from Ikea. Meets our needs and looks fine. We weren't looking for anything too fancy, as it will only be used a year or two.

Highly recommend Craigslist here, the $1000 pottery Barn cribs are easy to find in perfect condition for less than $200
And how important is convertibility to toddler and full size bed?
Seems logical purchase but not sure if people actually end up using it as a full size bed (especially when we plan to have at least one more kid)
One downside for the understorage version... there will be a time when you are doing everything possible to keep your child from need the toddler conversion / toddler bed. One of those steps is lowering he mattress to the ground to make it harder to climb out. For that reason, I advise against.
Toddler conversion is not necessary.. it’s nice, but for the price you could buy a toddler bed
We bought the crazy expensive crib with Italian wood. Kid slept with us. I second the ikea crib idea. Safe, sturdy, simple. You’ll only use for about two years then get a bigger bed
Ok so in short, it seems like the group recommends I get a simple but safe crib (ikea/graco) without worrying about convertibility or drawers
Yep, sounds about right.

We purchased ours at buybuy baby + toddler/full conversion kits and changing table for 1200
